NYC’s Story: The City on Record

Digital Exhibit Architecture, Accessibility, and Systems Design

Astound Media led the strategy, architecture, and implementation of a public-facing digital exhibit for the NYC Department of Records & Information Services celebrating 400 years of New York City history. The exhibit transforms primary government archival records into an accessible, modern, and performance-conscious WordPress experience built for long-term public use.

Our work balanced archival accuracy, accessibility compliance, performance constraints, and scope discipline while coordinating with archivists and city stakeholders. We owned the system end to end, including content architecture, accessibility implementation, media handling, performance optimization, and governance workflows.

The result is a durable public digital exhibit that makes New York City’s history discoverable and usable while meeting the operational and compliance requirements of a major government institution.
